Background
Since Covid – more and more of us are working flexibly which is great for work-life balance but does mean it can be more challenging to keep fleet vehicles compliant and drivers safe. Regular Audited vehicle inspections are a fundamental element of fleet management.
As staff don’t go into the office as much there’s less opportunity to check the safety of their fleet vehicles.
But thanks to a ground-breaking Driver and Vehicle Safety Programme managed by Adept Vehicle Management incorporating a special mobile app, you can be confident that your inspection process is robust and complies with the DVSA safety and maintenance guide. We make sure our customers can take action to counteract that. The app-based vehicle check software enables their drivers to remotely conduct frequent, simple, and effective checks on their vehicles. All the information submitted instantly alerts the fleet department and can be audited by the Adept Vehicle Management team giving companies complete peace of mind over vehicle and driver safety.
Our Customers
Synectic Solutions are just one of our customers who signed up to the app at the start of the year. From the data received we were able to run a report highlighting the level of staff uptake and frequency of the checks.
From that report – working together with their fleet manager Dean Lanza we were able to pinpoint key areas to focus on to meet the fleet safety standards required.
How We Helped
As a result, working closely with Dean and his team we filmed a series of instruction videos that drivers could easily access highlighting best practice in key areas of the vehicle check including tyre pressure and treads.
We then organised two drop-in sessions for staff where we could address any concerns or challenges the checks were posing.
An ongoing campaign of communications was a huge success with more than 60% of staff attending over the two days. It was also a fantastic opportunity for us to pinpoint key areas where we could improve the service, we were providing to them.
What Happened Next
As a result of the sessions – we were able to:
- Add additional vehicle safety reminders via email and phone notifications.
- Tailor the checks for the drivers to make them even more relevant to their vehicle
- Improve the ease and speed of conducting checks
- Communicate relevant support numbers for tyres, windscreens, breakdowns, accidents and out of hours emergencies
- Engage our fleet users and add value
- Improve the fleet users experience knowing their cars are safe and maintained to a high standard.
- Take away the concerns over how accurate the checks need to be and the key benefit of doing the checks.
Synectic Solution Fleet Manager, Dean Lanza, said: “Following on from the vehicle safety sessions we saw a distinct improvement in take up of the checks, highlighting defects that would have been missed, that could have potentially become dangerous. As an employer we want to do all we can to keep our drivers safe on the roads and Adept’s support has been integral to that.”
Adept Director Carl Cumbo added: “The increased frequency of the checks is also providing us with more robust information on the mileage their drivers are doing. As well as helping keep their staff safe it also means we can pass on a significant cost saving as we have been able to reduce their monthly fleet costs and improve their Service Maintenance & Repair. schedules because of this data.”
